2. Data We Collect
2.1. Server Log Files
When you visit our website, our servers automatically record information that your browser transmits. This includes:
- IP address (anonymized where possible)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referrer URL
- Time of server request
Legal Basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Legitimate Interest) to ensure network security and stability.
2.2. User Account Data (Beta/Waitlist)
To use the HamRig service or join the waiting list, we collect:
- Amateur Radio Callsign
- Email address
- Password (hashed and salted)
Legal Basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (Performance of a Contract) to provide the remote control service.
2.3. Radio Control & Audio Data (WebRTC)
HamRig facilitates the transmission of audio and control commands (CAT) between your radio and your browser.
- Audio/Video Streams: These are transmitted via WebRTC. Ideally, this is a peer-to-peer connection. If a direct connection cannot be established, data is relayed via our secure TURN servers. We do not record, store, or analyze the content of these streams. They are ephemeral and exist only during the active session.
- Control Commands: Frequency, mode, and settings data are processed to sync the radio state with the interface.
3. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
We use selected third-party providers to operate our infrastructure. We have concluded Data Processing Agreements (DPA) with these providers.
3.1. Cloud Infrastructure
Our servers, databases, and authentication systems are hosted on secure cloud infrastructure (e.g., Google Cloud Platform/Firebase) located within the EU/EEA where possible.
3.2. CloudLog Integration
If you use the "OneClick CloudLog" feature, you authorize HamRig to send QSO data (Callsign, Frequency, Mode, RST) to your designated CloudLog instance via API. We act as a data conduit; the retention of this log data is governed by your CloudLog instance's privacy settings.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
We use local storage technology (HTML5 LocalStorage) and essential cookies to:
- Maintain your login session (Authentication).
- Save your interface preferences (e.g., waterfall colors, last used frequency).
We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the Service or to comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax or commercial retention periods). Once the purpose is fulfilled, data is deleted or anonymized.
6. Your Rights
Under the GDPR and FADP, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of Access: You can request information about your stored data.
- Right to Rectification: You can request correction of incorrect data.

7. International Data Transfers
As a Swiss company, your data is processed in Switzerland. The European Commission has recognized Switzerland as providing an adequate level of data protection. If data is transferred to other countries (e.g., via our global mesh proxies in the US or Asia), we ensure appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place.
8. Security
We use SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmission to protect your confidential information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
